The Crotchet Factory, based in Eastville, Bristol are a husband and wife team providing music classes and courses for babies, toddlers, children and adults.
Students of The Crotchet Factory are in a unique position of having the opportunity of progressing through a tried and tested method of music education, starting from 6 months. Working through multiple levels of classes, these music lessons provide an in-depth grounding whilst instilling a life-long passion for everything music can offer!
Following her first class music degree at Bath Spa University, Maxine (B.A. Hons P.G.C.E.) trained and worked as a Primary teacher in schools. She has also been Head of Music at Filton Avenue Junior School and Tockington Manor School. Following the birth of her two children she developed courses for early years music at ‘The Crotchet Factory’ , now running for 20 years. Maxine teaches piano, guitar, recorder and ukulele and most of all enjoys imparting her incredible enthusiasm for music to children and adults alike! In addition to teaching, Maxine is a committee member for Bristol SRP (recorder) and belongs to Thornbury Clarinet Choir. She also plays tenor drum for the City of Bristol Pipe and Drums and is a keyboardist/guitarist with ‘RockPipes’, a new Celtic rock band.
Andy (M.Mus B.A. Hons L.T.C.L. A.L.C.M.) is an accomplished musician, both a highly acclaimed performer and an experienced teacher. His experience as a performer ranges from his years as a Rock musician, touring Britain and Germany, to his Classical recitals, both solo and ensemble, involving guitar and lute.
Andy also provides World Music Workshops in schools up and down the country with his ‘Sounds Roadshows’ which have never failed to enthral - in his own unique and incredible way, Andy ensures all the children he teaches are stimulated. thus promoting their enthusiasm, not only for guitar, but for music as a whole. In addition to his teaching, Andy enjoys playing bagpipes for the City of Bristol Pipe and Drums, is a member of the newly formed ‘RockPipes’ and has produced a number of CD’s with his son playing in their duo ‘Windy Strings’.
